We're making every child's world better

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is the main examination in Ghana that qualifies students for admission into secondary and vocational schools. It is taken after three years of junior high school education and is administered by the Ghana Education Service under the Ministry of Education.

The BECE covers subjects such as:

English Language

Mathematics

Integrated Science

Social Studies

Religious and Moral Education

French (Optional)

Ghanaian Language

Career Technology

Computing

Creative Arts and Design

Arabic (Optional)

Students are graded on a nine-point scale, with Grade 1 being the highest and Grade 9 the lowest. The exam is conducted annually, usually in June, and plays a crucial role in determining students’ progression to senior high schools (SHS) and other vocational institutions.
